Vanderful
Art Director | Foodie Magazine | June-August 2020
Project Detail
For this individual project I did in school, I envisioned and designed a single publication, which was a foodie magazine named Vanderful.
Role
I independently play the role of publisher and art director to both ideate and design a new magazine from initial concept (readership, editorial mandate and brand), to final cover, table of contents, editorial feature and subscription campaign.

Challenges
Appropriate time management. I spent a long time identify and target a specific readership, to define a distinctive editorial mandate, and to create a memorable and appropriate brand.
Learning how to use Blinkplan to plan the editorial content and how to use Adobe InDesign to experiment with my ideas.
What I Learned
Getting familiar with Adobe InDesign.
Learned how to design a new magazine from the initial concept, to strategize my design solutions, and to critically evaluate what appealed to specific target audiences.
What I've Achieved
Created my own brand 'Vanderful' from this project, and after that, I started my WeChat Official Account 'Vanderful_lab' (published articles about Vancouver vibrant restaurants).
